What is Herpes and What Causes it?

There are many know types of herpes. Two are very common, oral and genital herpes. Here you will find information about both.

Problems with oral or facial herpes

Facial or oral herpes is caused by type 1 virus. This may or may not be considered as a sexually transmitted disease as it could occur due to sharing of utensils, lip balm or by even touching the sore. Of course kissing could cause the infection too.

If people with a weak immune system contract facial herpes infection, they are likely to have very severe herpes infection symptoms. This is true with people who have AIDS, cancer or those who have just undergone an organ transplant. Or consider the case of people with eczema or dermatitis. In that case, the facial herpes could spread to other parts of the body and large parts of the skin could get infected. However, such a possibility is rare. Significantly one of the prime causes of blindness, especially in the United States is because of corneal scarring. And if the herpes virus were to infect the eye then corneal scarring is a distinct possibility.

What is the difference between genital herpes caused by type 1 virus and the one that is caused by type 2 viruses?

Type 1 is more likely to cause facial herpes. But type 1 can cause herpes in the genital area too. However these types of infections do not reoccur. In other words, type 1 will not cause reoccurrence of herpes in the genital area.

Type 2 is most likely to occur only in the genital area.  Generally, it is the type 2 virus that is responsible for genital herpes. Genital herpes can only spread through sexual contact.

As for the symptoms, there is not much difference in the symptoms of the infections caused by the type 1 and type 2 viruses.

Genital herpes and oral herpes occur in different parts of the body. Supposing the type 1 virus causes an outbreak in the genital area these are usually mild as compared to an outbreak resulting from the type 2 virus in the genital area. Depending on which virus has caused the infection, that is whether it is type 1 or type 2, a suitable treatment can be selected. Therefore it is important to find out which type of virus has caused the infection. In this way, you can choose from any one of the treatment options. How do you figure out which type of virus is causing the infection for you? Only a lab test can determine that.

Genital herpes is not a fatal disease. But surely it could cause a few problems.

At present there is no cure to completely remove the genital herpes virus from your body, in case you have the infection. But there are treatments to prevent future outbreaks. Most of these treatments come with no guarantees either. Therefore, the safest thing to do would be to try out natural products like Herpinex easily purchased without a doctor’s prescription.

Can you prevent genital herpes from spreading?

Sure you can. In case you have an ongoing herpes outbreak, make it a point to wash your hands regularly. Also make it a point not to touch any infant or child, and those people you think who could be having a weak immune system, like people with AIDS, cancer or those who have undergone organ transplant. Just as you take care not to touch others, it is equally important not to touch your own eyes with a hand that has already touched a herpes infected part of your body.
Can genital herpes cause long-term damage to your body?

By and large genital herpes cannot cause long term damage to your body. But there is an exception to this. A person with a weak immune system should not only expect severe outbreaks in future, the effects on his body could be long-lasting as well. To a great extent, natural treatments like HerpesClear Gel and HerpesIQ capsules can prevent this from happening. HerpesIQ capsules are for oral intake. But if you prefer something that could be applied on the infected area then HerpesClear Gel could be a possible option.

Genital herpes and pregnant women

Pregnant women should seek expert medical advice if they happen to have genital herpes. This is because the virus could pass on to the unborn child. The fetuses that get infected could die during birth or suffer from neurological defects.

Some of the other complications could be the possibility of spontaneous abortion or giving birth to a premature baby. Usually pregnant women with genital herpes are not advised to go in for a normal delivery so as to prevent the possibility of passing on the infection to the child during childbirth. Doctors instead prefer to do a caesarian section. It is also better to treat both the child and mother with the drug acyclovir.
Therefore, early detection of genital herpes in pregnant women is important.

Link between genital herpes and HIV

People with genital herpes have a very high chance of contracting HIV. This is because the virus has an easy access point to your body. On the other hand in case a person with HIV gets genital herpes then the outbreaks could be very severe too. Such people could easily pass on both genital herpes and HIV to other individuals.

Natural treatments are increasingly gaining acceptance. Unlike drugs, natural treatments do not have side effects. In the case of both facial and genital herpes outbreaks, natural treatments can to a large extent reduce the number of times the outbreaks occur, how long they last each time and the overall severity of the outbreaks.
